Why Irish Dance?

Three Goode Academy dancers warm up before a competition.

Irish dance is both traditional and modern.  Study of Irish dance helps maintain the rich history of Irish culture, but dancers need not be of Irish heritage to enjoy it!

Irish dance is a fun means of exercise for students of all ages, but it offers so much more than just cardiovascular health.  Dancers in our school are often taught in leveled classes which often have a diversity of ages within each class.  This promotes a family-like atmosphere, allowing students to form close relationships with their fellow students.  Additional benefits of Irish dance include:

  • Setting goals and designing paths to reach personal goals
  • Improving self esteem
  • Teamwork
  • Keeping students focused on cardiovascular and overall health

The Goode Academy welcomes students of all ages (from 3 years-old through adults) in the Tulsa metropolitan area, as well as Edmond, OK.

Goode Academy students learn traditional Irish social dancing, know as ceili dancing, or group dances, as well as solo dances.  Students receive individual feedback in order for them to improve their skills and work towards personal goals.
